I hold Maruti Alto. Recently I forgot keys inside the car and locked it.  Coming after one and half hour I realized car engine was stopped but battery is on and keys are inside in the car. My trouble slowly started thinking how to unlock the vehicle and get the battery re-charge. Because MFI engines doesn’t start by pushing the car.  And other problem is power steering and braking. Both will become hard and not work. Battery re-charging or getting new battery is an option. My house is far away and home keys are also inside the car. I have no other option to find key maker to unlock. I searched around the places and I found car accessories fitting guy. I told him the situation and asked him to help in unlocking the car. Even he tried various methods to unlock, unfortunately he was not succeed. I remember my old days I used to unlock Maruti 800 by inserting scale in the glass window and push down. Finally that method is adopted for unlocking. I have not found the scale but I found thick card board. I don’t have any option apart from that. So I tried to insert the cardboard. Instantly car was unlocked and I and my friend surprised. I felt happy in unlocking the car and my first step succeeded. Major big problem is to get battery recharge. MFI engines do not start by pushing the car.  I have spanners in the car which helped me in removing the battery from the car. Few days before battery got completely discharged and I was assuming battery is dead and it’s a time to replace because my earlier situations made my mind to change the battery. When I have given the car for the servicing, they indicated me that the battery will not work because its life is around 2 years. I have really maintained the battery in very good condition by taking to battery check up guy and getting distil water level maintain. Now its more than 3 years still running with the battery that has come with the vehicle.  My car music receiver shows me the voltage so that I will know when the car voltage drops I immediately rush to the battery repair guy. Because of the summer heat batteries get drain fast.  Minor problems got resolved. Now in this case, I assumed it’s a great challenge to find a battery repair guy. I removed and lifted the battery from the car engine. I felt battery is weight and very hot. Because battery tends to become hot when they get discharge completely that too walked in the hot sun for 200 meters and enquiring the battery shop.

Road side two wheeler mechanics really helped me in telling me that discharge the battery by shorting completely and vehicle can be pushed and it get starts. I again remember my old days. We used to start the vehicles by pushing but I still have a doubt that vehicle will not start because its MFI engine. I don’t have any other option so I have too opt for pushing the car. We have fitted the discharge battery in the engine and guys are pushing the car I released power steering is very hard to rotate and brakes are very hard like a rock and not working. Finally In a moment vehicle got started. I am very lucky on that day. I was in prediction that MFI engines will not start. But practically engines started working.

It’s a good advantage for the Maruti udyog vehicles for unlocking the car without the keys and the same is also disadvantage for car theft.

By pushing the car, engine gets started in case the battery drains and also gets charge on the move. Maintenance free batteries are available in the market but very expensive compare to maintenance batteries. Now a days companies have stopped maintenance batteries and not available to the public but they are still they are supplying to the car manufactures, because car manufactures want to reduce the cost of the vehicle.  This is India. ..
