Most of the Indians have confusion between conversion of lakhs, cores to millions and billions. Through my basic knowledge of understanding the following chart and examples will be useful.

1 lac

0.1 million

10 lacs

1 million

1 core

10 million

10 cores

100 millions

100 cores

1 billion

1000 cores

10 billion

10000 cores

100 billion

100,000 lac cores

1 trillion

We are translating Indian currency from cores to millions and billions

For an Example : Rs.363,34,45,913/-

That is 363 cores 34 lacs 45 thousand 9 hundred 13 rupees

Now Billions and Millions

300 cores = 3 billion (300,00,00,000/100,00,00,000)

633 lacs = 633 million (6,33,00,000/10,00,000)

445,000 = 445 thousand

913 = nine hundred and thirteen

That is 3 billion 633 million 445 thousand 900 hundred and thirteen

363,34,45,913

For improving skills from the above example

$ 564,34,23,958 ( 564 cores 34 lacs 23 thousand 9 hundred 58 dollars)

$ 5,643,423,958 (5 billion 643 million 423 thousand 9 hundred 58 dollars)

Difference between those two is just comas, we Indians use 2 digit separator and others use 3 digit separator.

Now refined Example

1)3.66 million

Converter is 36 lacs 60 thousand (3.66* 10,00,000=36,60,000)

2)465.34 billion

Converter is 4653 cores 40 lacs

Hope the above examples will make you to understand and calculate millions and billions. Further to improve please write suggestions to this article. Not encouraging the guests to give figures and asking me to convert. Just give your value additions to this article.

It is rare that in retrospect we question what we have achieved in our life apart from the success in family life, career & wealth. Most people struggle to lead their lives searching for stability to feed themselves the family. Is this all there is to life?

There are great scholars, inventors, discoverers & social workers.

Because of these people our lives go smoothly and but we do not realize the importance of their contribution. Take for example: The invention of Electricity, mobile phones, concept of furnished accommodation, automobiles etc.

Where do we place ourselves? Are we are eligible to use these things and enjoy them? Please consider. To what extent do apply daily thought to do good for others.

Are we doing any social work or participating in the social work camps? Are we at least voting for the social activisms that we think are right and proactively supporting them?

If nothing else, the least we can do for the society is to stop lying, stick to the truth, not give or accept bribes. The result – no corruption.

We all love to watch movies. At the cinema, we watch, we appreciate and we forget. For us movies are only for entertainment value. But why do not we take the good message from that and implement the same?

For instance; in a particular movie the socialist urged to help 3 people and they should each help another 3 and so on. All these people are linked in a chain management.

Spare a thought to what we are doing. Spend at-least one day in a month to helping other people by offering any service you can. Simply donating money does not help.

Personally, I feel awful that I have not actively participated in helping other by either inventing/discovering something that makes life easy or by any other service. Being humans, our spirit should always be to help others and working towards making life easier for people.

Just limiting to me, my family and my people is not all that is there to life.

We all are not independent. Somehow we are dependent on others. Please make sure that in our short lives, we have something offer to others and are proud of it. For me, it’s equivalent to a life time achievement award.

Education/career/ money / family are not what define you.

* This article is applicable for non social people.
